Whoopi Goldberg to co-host The View??? That's a thought... a GREAT one!! Though I don't get to watch The View, I do feel that Whoopi has a talk show worthy personality that will keep viewers hooked. Her no-nonsense, keep it real attitude is always poised with maturity and tact, and will provide the controversial outlook that the show is obviously looking for. So although final decisions are still underway, and rumors have Perez as her closest competition... I'm rooting for the Whoop-ster!

Who knows, maybe she'll have everyone doing the electric slide at the end of each episode... like the Apollo! Wouldn't that be hilarious!! ...lol!

Peter Som to design for Bill Blass!!!

Peter Som was named the new Creative Director for Bill Blass women's collections, while Michael Bastian will become the creative director for the company's new menswear line, to be launched at a later date. This power packed duo proves that the company is headed in the right direction straight to the top, and they're committed to staying there! "My current focus is to evolve and modernize the brand by incorporating my own aesthetic while staying true to Mr. Blass' vision and legacy," say Som.

Both designers will continue to to design for their own houses, while holding their new positions at Bill Blass! I can't wait to see what the future holds for the collections!!

Written All Over Her Face!!!

Almost as if she knew what was going down... the shock on Kelis' face tells how many of us feel! After only a little over two years, Vibe Vixen will fold... ending with the August/September issue. "The female counterpart to urban music and lifestyle magazine Vibe," that was just beginning to develop a strong and loyal readership was definitely heading in the right direction. This year we were beginning to see more fashion, great articles, and the eye-catching layout was definitely playing a role in reeling us in! Though I was not as excited about Vibe Vixen last year, at this point I'm truly disappointed that it's time has come to an end. Vibe will publish special issues only, and we still have the site ...however, whoever is is charge of the site must have missed the memo, because it needs a serious makeover to keep an audience!

I mean really... Essence will always be fabulous, but Vixen was definitely a bit more generation specific. Will we ever get a voice 'just for us' to last???

The Perfect Melon!

So you need to bring a dish to that 4th of July BBQ that you've been anticipating all summer! Everyday Food has got the perfect treat! Tasty, refreshing, low-fat and very Chic... it's a great recipe whether you're a host or a guest!

Watermelon Salad with Rum and Mint: Serves 6

Prep time: 20 minutes. Total time: 20 minutes.

1/2 teaspoon finely grated lime zest plus 2 tablespoons juice (from 1 lime)

2 tablespoons light-brown sugar

2 tablespoons light rum

1/4 teaspoon salt

6-pound piece chilled seedless watermelon

2 tablespoons slivered fresh mint leaves

1. In a large bowl, whisk together lime juice, sugar, rum and salt.

2. Using a melon baller, scoop melon into balls (you'll get about 10 cups), or cut melon into bite-size chunks. Add melon to lime mixture in bowl. Sprinkle with mint and lime zest, and toss gently to combine.

Serve immediately, or cover and refrigerate, up to 2 hours.

Definitely more creative than picking up a bottle of wine or a six pack of Corona!

Doin' It and Doin' It and Doin' It Well!!

Eva Pigford at last weeks BET Awards... Love the look; it's so perfect for the summer with the colorful stripes, yet fabulous enough for the Red Carpet! Get 'em Girl!
